Columbus (Ohio): The world-wide Anglican Communion was teetering once again on Monday night as conservatives reacted to the U.S. Episcopal Church's election of a woman to be its next presiding Archbishop with claims that it would exacerbate divisions. Church women's groups and liberals greeted the election of Katharine Jefferts Schori, Bishop of Nevada, to head the American Church with acclamation. , Fort Worth in Texas, announced that it would seek alternative oversight from a male Archbishop and a spokesman for the African province of Nigeria — the largest in the communion — expressed outrage. —
