KOZHIKODE: CIESCO, a cultural organisation here, is celebrating its Golden Jubilee Year this year. CIESCO formed on June 21, 1956 by a group of college and school students who gathered at Sikander Memorial Hall at Thekkumthala in the district. These college and school students elected C.N. Imbichammu as their president and P.M. Shiyalikkoya as secretary and P.T. Abdurahiman as treasurer. After 50 years, the organisation has grown by leaps and bounds running a library, junior school, orphanage and a technical institute. It also has youth, women and children's wings and a senior citizens' forum. The Golden Jubilee celebrations were inaugurated by then Public Works Minister, M.K. Muneer, on March 11. The present president of the organisation is C.A. Ummerkoya and general secretary is P.T. Muhamedali. The Foundation Day celebrations would be held at Girls Home in Mukhadar on June 25. The main programme would be a meeting of the old members of the organisation. An exhibition titled, `CIESCO through its 50 years,' has also been arranged.
