TIRUMALA: In a revolutionary decision, the TTD management has decided to opt for biometric system in issuance of its cellar darshan tickets which is commonly provided to pilgrims with VIP recommendation letters. At a high-level meeting coordination meeting held on Tuesday, TTD Special Officer A.V. Dharma Reddy instructed his electronic department officials to explore the feasibility of introducing the biometric system in the issuance of cellar tickets which will not only regulate the issuance of the much-sought-after darshan tickets but also help check sale of drashan tickets in black. To bring in more transparency in the administration, the management also opined to display darshan timings on colour TV sets to be installed at all the sudarshan tickets issuing counters at Tirumala equipped with UPS system for the benefit of pilgrims. Further it was decided to recommend fencing of the entire vicinity of the Vedapatasala situated amidst thick Dharmagiri forests, some 3 km from here. For the benefit pilgrims it was decided to set up telephone coin boxes at all important places.
