Rajasthan Governor inaugurates exhibition

JAIPUR: Rajasthan Governor Pratibha Patil on Monday inaugurated a weeklong exhibition of photographs on the life and teachings of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.

The exhibition, which is to coincide with a weeklong "Gandhi katha" programme by eminent Gandhian Narain Desai in the Capital, has been put up by the Delhi-based Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti.

Ms. Patil went round the exhibition, set up at the Ramlila grounds, also the venue for the Gandhi katha programme in the evenings, and examined each of the 81 mounted panels with much interest. She was accompanied by eminent Gandhian S.N.Subba Rao, Pradesh Congress Committee president, B.D.Kalla, State Mahila Congress president Mamta Sharma, Rajasthan University Vice-Chancellor N.K.Jain and former SEBI Director D.R.Mehta.

Ms. Patil said the exhibition once again reminded her of the dedicated life of the Mahatma. "Every time one visited such an exhibition it provided inspiration and imparted peace and tranquillity. The new generation should certainly watch it as Mahtma Gandhi's teaching are as relevant today as they used to be in the past," she wrote in the visitors' book.

The Governor also examined the mobile exhibition of Gandhian literature at the venue and observed the products made by the Gandhi ashrams.
