HYDERABAD: Labour Minister G. Vinod has denied having asked the Adilabad Collector to issue a Backward Class certificate to a person belonging to Reddy Gandla caste and said he had merely urged him to thoroughly examine the representation. The Minister told a press conference here on Tuesday that various allegations had been made following the letter he had written to the Collector and wondered how it amounted to violation of the election code. He had routinely asked the Collector to examine the matter and that it was not linked to the panchayat raj elections. He had no intention to violate the code and was willing to give an explanation if sought by the State Election Commission. In the letter, Mr. Vinod said he had enclosed the representation of Pottu Chinna Rami Reddy who said his caste had been recognised as "Gandla" but was denied a BC certificate "under the presumption that the word Reddy has been added to the name".
