BJP: minorities panel targeting our governments

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday charged the National Commission for Minorities with being "biased, prejudiced and motivated" and said its aim was to defame BJP governments. It was "eager" to make public statements "ex parte" without giving the governments a chance to give their views. "Why were they investigating cases only in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh? Was there no complaint from other States," party spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad asked here.

He defended the Vishwa Hindu Parishad's "ghar vapasi" programme, under which those who converted to Christianity were "encouraged" to return to the Hindu fold.
