VISAKHAPATNAM: Hailing the High Court's decision on Tuesday to dismiss the local bodies' (ZPTC and MPTC) election, Ch. Narasinga Rao, district secretary of CPI(M), said that it clearly showed the failure of the State Government machinery.
Names deleted
Speaking at a press conference here, he said that the decision had been taken only after the judiciary system was convinced over the anomalies in the voting list that they had been talking about. Misusing its power, the Congress party had deleted the names of the opposition voters to facilitate a win for their candidates,'' he alleged. Citing examples of the anomalies committed, he noted that the name of D. Gangaraju, ZPTC nominee of CPI(M) in Anantagiri mandal, was missing when he had gone to file the nomination papers. "On verification with the master list, his name was found. When questioned, the officials squarely put the blame on the DTP operators for the deletion. In all, 150 such names of our party members were missing,'' he said. Mr. Narasinga Rao also pointed out that the ruling party had tampered with the reservation issue also.
