Hoax bomb call to GE Capital

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad police went on an alert on Tuesday after an anonymous person called up 108, an emergency ambulance service number to inform that a bomb was planted at the office of GE Capital in Uppal and it would explode anytime.

However, the call turned out to be a hoax after a thorough search by a police team. The police swung into action and cordoned-off the area and a bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs searched the premises for three hours, but explosives were not found.

Normal functioning at GE capital was disrupted for nearly three hours as the employees had to vacate the office.

The anonymous call originated from a public booth in Uppal. Efforts were on to trace the caller, police said.
