Janakpuri suicide case: Post-mortem

suggests no assault

NEW DELHI: The post-mortem report of 19-year-old Neha Kakkar, a student of Jesus and Mary College who allegedly jumped from the sixth floor of a district centre at Janakpuri in West Delhi this past week, has indicated that she committed suicide.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Delhi) Robin Hibu, the post-mortem report ruled out criminal assault on Neha. He said that before jumping to her death from the building, Neha had sent four SMS messages to her boyfriend biding him good-bye forever. "We have also come across two eyewitnesses who had seen her falling from the building," said Mr. Hibu.

Earlier, her father had alleged that she had been assaulted, following which a panel of three doctors was set up to conduct post-mortem on the body.

Five killed in

separate accidents

NEW DELHI: Five fatal accidents have been reported from different parts of South Delhi since Monday night.

According to the police, a motorcyclist was knocked down by a speeding tanker at Srinivaspuri around 7 p.m. on Monday. The driver of the tanker has been arrested.

In what seems to be a hit and run case, the police found the body of a 30-year-old unidentified man at Ashram Chowk around 10 p.m. on Monday.

Three pedestrians were killed in separate incidents on Tuesday morning. While two persons died after being hit by autorickshaws, a 20-year-old man, Nibhay, from West Bengal was run over by a tourist bus near Lajpat Nagar around 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

CPWD engineer held

on bribe charge

NEW DELHI: An executive engineer with the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 7,000 from a person to help him get a contract worth Rs. 3.72 lakhs.

The accused was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting the bribe in his office.

In the subsequent raid at his residence, the CBI claimed to have seized Rs. 10 lakhs in cash and documents pertaining to two plots at Rohini.

Constable arrested

for graft

NEW DELHI: A Delhi traffic police constable has been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Branch of the State Government on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 from a bus operator for not challaning his vehicle.

The accused, Sukhbir Singh, was posted at the Hauz Khas traffic circle. According to the Anti-Corruption officials, he was allegedly demanding money from one Manish Kaushik.
