SHCIL starts operations in Kannur

Plan to open more branches

KANNUR: Stock Holding Corporation of India Ltd. (SHCIL), a financial services company promoted by public financial institutions, has started operations here.

The SHCIL opened a branch in Kannur, the sixth branch to be opened in the State. Chairman and the managing director of the SHCIL R. Jayaraman Iyer inaugurated the branch.

He said that the corporation was planning to open more branches across the country to cater to the requirements of investors at all levels. District Collector K. S. Srinivas was the chief guest at the investors' meet held in connection with the inauguration.

A press release issued by the SHCIL said that the corporation had been in the business of providing custodial services and depository services to major financial institutional investors and retail investors. It was also a leading mutual fund distributor in the country and was offering services such as PF accounting, capital gain exemption bonds, loan against shares, net trading, insurance and Western Union Money Transfer, the press release said

It added that the company was having over 150 networked branches spreading across the country. The SHCIL's wide area network (WAN) named SHCILNET is one of the largest WANs in the country, it said.
