Further losses in rupee
MUMBAI:
The rupee on Wednesday closed with further losses against the U.S. currency at 45.96/97 a dollar on increased dollar demand from corporates, especially from oil PSUs.
Though the stock markets were firm, foreign institutional investors remained net sellers with a pullback of Rs. 660 crore in the futures and option segment on June 20, which also dampened the rupee, dealers said. In active trading on the interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian currency opened with fresh gains at 45.90/91 against 45.9450/9525. However, it turned weak towards the end and closed at 45.96/97. PTI
