Coimbatore: Bangalore's Anirbhan Lahiri snatched the lead from overnight leader Rakesh Kumar on the second day of the GKD Memorial Gold Cup open golf championship here on Wednesday. Anirbhan with a level par 72 finished the day on a merry note with a tally of 144. Rakesh, who enjoyed a great opening day, looked out of sorts. The Delhi youngster had a four-over and was placed second at 146. Jasjeet Singh, at 148, was not far off. India's top amateur golfer Joseph Chakola of Coimbatore did one better and jumped four places to share the fourth spot with Gagan Verma at 149. The par four third turned out to be tough for most of the golfers with the three par playing well over 4.5. It was the only hole that did not see a birdie and the difficulty could be measured by the fact that there were only two pars. The first nine scores were close to par. However, as the day progressed, apart from a few golfers, the rest were only trying to gauge the winds. The penultimate day is expected to bring in more of the monsoon winds and it remains to be seen who will be good enough to tame it. The scores: Anirbhan Lahiri (72, 72) 144; Rakesh Kumar (70, 76) 146; Jasjeet Singh (74, 74) 148; Gagan Verma and Joseph Chakola (74, 75) 149; Tarun Ghogale, Gaganjeet Bhullar and Chirag Kumar (150); Shaurya Singh 151; Balwinder Singh Mattu 152.
