Friends Union Club enters semifinal

HYDERABAD: Friends United Club (King Koti) moved into the semifinal of the Sachdev Sports Cup football tournament with a 1-0 win over Prem Raj XI here on Wednesday.

After a barren first-half, FUC was delighted to see rival defender Sandeep score an own goal in the 65th minute.

In another match, Bolarum defeated Kannan XI 7-5 in a tie-breaker. Nawaz, Rakesh and Sandeep scored for Bolarum and Prithvi (2) and Suman netted for the losers. In the tie-breaker, Kumar, Vikas, Manibabu and Nawaz were successful for the winners, while only Sandeep and Vishal were on target for the losers.

Sirisha moves up

K. Sirisha defeated Divija 11-3, 11-7, 11-4 in the mini cadet girls second round of the YMCA State-ranking table tennis tournament here on Wednesday.

Narrow win for Artillery

Artillery Centre scored a 2-1 victory over AP Police in the super six hockey championship here. Policemen took the lead in the 13th minute through Suresh's penalty corner conversion. However, Artillery fought back well to strike twice through Deepak Tirkey and Ranjit Singh to clinch the issue.

In the `B' Division league, SAAP Nalgonda defeated Independent Club 7-0 with R. Shiva Kumar scoring a hat-trick. Md. Waheed scored a brace, while R. Pavan Kumar and Md. Yousufuddin struck once each.

Prince slams ton

Danny Derek Prince (121, 4x15, 6x1) helped MP Colts settle for a draw against Evergreen in an `A' Division (three-day) league cricket championship match here.

The scores: `A' Division (three-day): SCRSA 386 for seven declared and 120 without loss (M. Suresh 54 not out, R.A.Viswanath 61 not out) drew with Ensconse 258 for nine (Md. Imran 62, V.V.V. Appa Rao four for 91, Md. Faiq four for 76).

MP Colts 327 and 206 (Danny Derek Prince 121) drew with Evergreen 184 (Vinay Tolani five for 62) and 40 for one.

`A' Division (two-day): First day: Brothers XI 218 (Sajjad 52, Rajesh Singh 49, Navjoth four for 42, Rajeev five for 48) vs Gemini Friends 22 for one.

SA Sports 217 (T. Vijay Karthik 90, K.V. Srikanth 63, Azhar five for 75) vs Oxford Blues 11 for one.

Khizer on song

Khizer Ali put up a fine performance scoring seven goals to fashion City Club Coaching Centre's thumping 10-1 win over Rahim Coaching Centre (Saidabad) in the SAAP prize money football tournament at the Lal Bahadur Stadium here on Wednesday.

Ahmad Bin Hassan and Talkakhan (2) completed the tally.
