KOLKATA : India `A' clinched the cadet girls' team championship, winning all its matches in the four-team league. Other than this success, it was a bad day for the host nation in the four-day SAIL-Indian open junior table tennis championship, which began at the Netaji Indoor Stadium here on Wednesday. The presence of Chinese Taipei spoiled India's chances of faring better as the Indian junior boys' teams were eliminated in the semifinals.

Chinese Taipei `A' and `B' teams will play in the final on Thursday while in the junior girls' section it would be Chinese Taipei `A' against India `A'. India `B' meets Hong Kong in the cadet boys' team championship final. After having beaten the side 3-2 in the league stage, the Indian team would hope to repeat the feat on Thursday. In the semifinals, Hong Kong had ousted India `A' 3-1. The results: Team championship: Junior boys' semifinals: Chinese Taipei `A' bt India `B' 3-0. (Chiang Hung-Chieh bt S. Seshadri 11-6, 11-5, 11-6; Chen Chien-An bt Aman Balgu 11-6, 11-8, 11-7; Chieh/An bt Shubham Sharma/Balgu 17-15,8-11, 11-7, 11-5). Chinese Taipei `B' bt India `A' 3-0 (Shen Chi-Min bt Sanil Shetty 7-11, 11-8, 11-6, 11-4; Choi Yi-Cheng bt Aniket Koparkar 6-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-9; Min/Cheng bt Koparkar/Devesh Karia 11-7, 17-15, 11-8). Girls' semifinals: Chinese Taipei `A' bt India `B' 3-0 (Cheng I-Ching bt Divya Deshpande 12-10, 11-7, 11-5; Hsiung Nai-I bt Prajakta Tipale 11-8, 11-9, 11-3; Cheng/Hsiung bt Divya/Soumi Mondal 11-7, 11-3, 11-3). India `A' bt Chinese Taipei `B' 3-2 (Neha Agarwal lost to Hou Yu-Ling 9-11, 11-9, 14-12, 8-11, 6-11; K.
