SRINAGAR: In a new twist to the sex scandal involving politicians and officials, the High Court on Wednesday directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to re-investigate two cases registered in Mahraj Gunj and Magam police stations keeping in view their apparent link.

The Division Bench comprising Justice Hakim Imtiaz Hussain and Justice B.A. Kirmani said in an order that regarding the files pertaining to cases filed at Magam police station in Budgam district and Mahraj Gunj police station in Srinagar in 2004, "We find that these cases need further investigation, particularly in view of disclosures made by the girls in the present case and the apparent links between those and this case."

The court also directed the bail bonds of all the accused in these cases to be cancelled. Since the case is already under investigation with the CBI, these two cases shall also be assigned to them for further investigation.

"They shall be at liberty to arrest any of the accused for further custodial interrogation," said the order. The court also observed that it would be proper to create a temporary special court for trying these cases. The Government was also asked to ensure the victims' safety in view of the statements recorded by the CBI.
