VIZIANAGARAM: Assistant Engineer (Electrical Department) Kolli Krishna Murthy and his wife Kolli Uma Devi of Piridi village in Bobbili mandal were arrested after an exchange of fire between a special police party and Maoists sheltered in huts at Thimadapakalu, a hamlet of Yerrasamanthavalasa under Makkuva police station limits, on Wednesday morning, said Superintendent of Police Vikram Singh Mann. Later, an AK 47, three-loaded magazines and one transistor were recovered . At a press conference, Mr. Mann said that the police party began combing the area and on suspicion asked a person at the place to disclose his identity and surrender. But the police party came under fire from surrounding huts and the police returned the fire. After the firing stopped, the police they arrested the engineer and his wife, who, the SP said, had confessed that they met dalam members regularly.
