Water supply to be affected in South Delhi

NEW DELHI: Because of emergency work on Greater Kailash Mains, water supply to certain areas in South Delhi will be affected from Thursday evening to Friday morning.

The affected areas include Maharani Bagh, Friends Colony, Nizamuddin, Sarai Kale Khan, Sidhartha Enclave, Sukhdev Vihar, Chittaranjan Park, Greater Kailash, Kailash Colony, East of Kailash, Kalkaji, Tamoor Nagar, Okhla Village and Industrial Area, Govindpuri, Sheikh Sarai, Chiragh Dilli, Asian Games Village, Andrews Ganj, Gulmohar Park, Yusuf Sarai, South Extension, Sriniwaspuri, Amar Colony, Dayanand Colony and adjoining areas.

ITBP Everest team

calls on Shekhawat

NEW DELHI: Members of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police who climbed Mount Everest recently called on Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat at his residence here on Wednesday.

ITBP Director-General V.K.Joshi briefed the Vice-President about the expedition launched in March-June. Led by Additional Deputy Inspector-General Harbhajan Singh, 10 of the 26 members of the expedition scaled the world's highest peak.

Congratulating them, Mr. Shekhawat expressed the hope that there would be many more such expeditions.

Sports meet inaugurated

NEW DELHI: Delhi Government's Principal Secretary (Power) Rakesh Mehta inaugurated a sports tournament for employees of Delhi Transco Limited and Indraprastha Power Generation Company Limited here on Monday. The five-day meet is being held to commemorate the Foundation Day of the two companies on July 1.

During the meet, badminton, chess, carrom and table tennis tournaments are being held for the employees.

Funds for upkeep

of hospital

NEW DELHI: The Chairman of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi Standing Committee, Jai Kishan Sharma, has announced allocation of Rs. 50 lakhs from his special budgetary provisions for improvement works relating to maintenance of Hindu Rao Hospital. "Also, Rs.1 crore will be arranged out of the Councillors' Fund for this purpose,'' he added.

Mr. Sharma along with Leader of the House Jitender Kochar and senior functionaries had paid a surprise visit to the MCD-run Hindu Rao and Kasturba Hospitals on Tuesday.

Judicial remand

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Wednesday sent seven persons including five women, arrested for allegedly selling body parts of wild animals in the historic Jama Masjid area of Central Delhi, to a 14-day judicial custody.
