Lucknow: Expressing concern over some pulse polio cases being reported from six districts of western Uttar Pradesh, State Family Welfare Minister Ahmed Hasan on Wednesday said a publicity campaign, with active cooperation of the media, would be organised to sensitise people about the disease.
Media's contribution
A one-day workshop on media's contribution in polio eradication programme would be organised in affected districts to raise people's awareness about the issue, he said. The Minister said the role of private and voluntary institutions, religious leaders, educational institutions and prominent citizens along with media was important for eradication of the disease from the State. He claimed that polio had almost been eradicated in eastern and central parts of the State. Besides, state-level workshops would be organised by the Rotary International of India and national polio committee in Budaun, Bareilly, Rampur, Shahjahanpur, Meerut and Ferozabad, he said. -- PTI
