Students told to cultivate the art of listening

NEW ROLE: The newly elected leaders of Sri Vani Education Centre, Basaveshwaranagar

BANGALORE: The senior investiture ceremony of St. John's High School, Fraser Town, was held on Tuesday. The programme began with the newly selected student leaders marching on to the stage with the school and house flags carried by the respective housemasters and housemistresses.

Chief guest Angela Roye, founder of The Child Development Centre, and principal Rani Rajkumar pinned on badges, handed over the school flag and administered the oath to the leaders.

Ms. Angela called upon the leaders to cultivate the art of listening and treat those who advise them as personal coaches and trainers. She said they should develop a healthy body, mind and spirit. "Respect your fellow human beings, especially those who are not privileged to study in a school like this," she said. Ms. Angela asked the leaders to enjoy their new responsibility and not to consider it a burden.

School captain Santhosh Emmanuel Baynes said the leaders would work as a team and strive to keep the school colours flying high. Nicola Nisha Roy was selected girl captain.

Ms. Rani said values and work ethics were instilled in children by their parents. "Be curious, be compassionate and be committed to your work," she told the leaders.

The new leaders presented a special song.
