Golden jubilee celebrations of `Lionism' to be held at Panambur on Saturday

Seminar featuring women achievers also to be held on that day

MANGALORE: The Lions District 324-D5 of The International Association of Lions Clubs will hold the golden jubilee celebrations of "Lionism" in India at Jawaharlal Nehru Centenary Hall, Panambur, near here on Saturday. The golden jubilee celebrations committee will also organise a seminar featuring eminent women achievers.

Kripa Amar Alva, District Governor, District 324-D5, told presspersons here on Wednesday that Kiran Bedi, Director-General of Police (Home Guards), Delhi, Padmavathi Heggade, wife of D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, and Veenadhari, convener, Karavali Positive Women and Child Network, would be the resource persons for the seminar.

Each of these women had carved a niche for themselves in their respective areas of work and had become an example for the rest of society to follow and emulate. "The achievements of Dr. Bedi, Ms. Heggade and Ms. Veenadhari are an inspiration for women to follow. These resource persons will address Lioness members at the seminar,'' she said.

Besides, five eminent persons from the revenue districts under Lions District 324-D5 will be honoured as part of the golden jubilee celebration. They include K.V. Kamath, CEO, ICICI Bank, Uday Holla, Advocate General, Karnataka, N.V. Hegde, Chairman, Nitte Education Trust, Kadri Gopalnath, saxophone artiste, and Gurukiran, music director.

Dr. Heggade will honour these achievers at a function that evening. Dr. Bedi will be the chief guest. Ms. Alva will preside over it. The programme will be followed by a music concert.

K.M. Sachindranath, coordinator, golden jubilee celebration committee, and Kumble Narasimha Prabhu were present.
