BANGALORE:
Although the State Government and private professional college managements have worked out a "Consensual arrangement" on seat-sharing and fee structure for professional courses, on Wednesday the latter urged the State to first repeal the Karnataka Professional Education Institutions Act before making announcements on seat selection process.
In a letter to Medical Education Minister V.S. Acharya and Higher Education and Medical Education secretaries, the Karnataka Private Medical and Dental Colleges Association requested the Government not to proceed until the suitable documents were drawn and a separate enactment enabling the "Consensual Arrangement" was in place.
Finer aspects such as "transposing" and integrating the merit list of reserved category had to be documented by joint efforts with the consent of representatives with legal knowledge on both sides.
"We do not wish to be entangled in any litigation by any hasty steps being taken (like notifying counselling) as was our past experience," the association said.
