Kochi
The football fever has given sleepless nights to theatre owners in Kochi. For the last two weeks, cinemas have recorded a poor turnout, as die-hard fans of the silver screen stars remain glued to television sets. All major releases have been put on hold till the second week of July, when the football mania will come to a close. Except Mamootty's Prajapathi, no major movie was released during the last two weeks. Collections have been hit mainly for the evening shows, as most of the football matches are scheduled at 7.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. The box office record might get worse with the pre-quarterfinals starting on Saturday. Theatre owners are playing safe by extending the run of those movies released in May. Some of them are banking on Hollywood and Bollywood movies to overcome the bad patch.
