KERC to implement `availability based tariff'

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has prepared an action plan for the implementation of "intra-State availability based tariff" (ABT). According to a press release here on Thursday, intra-State ABT paves the way for efficient management of load by each distribution company by means of incentives and disincentives.

The incentives and disincentives, which are available under the ABT regime to Central generating stations would also be available to generating stations in the State.

Intra-State ABT is expected to optimise power generation in the State for better utilisation of resources.
