Council nod for Rs.15.8-crore projects

Development project for corporation

Kozhikode: The City Council on Thursday approved projects worth Rs.15.8 crores envisaged under the Kerala Development Project (KDP) for Kozhikode Corporation for 2006-2007. This included Rs.3.15 crore spillover projects of last fiscal. A major share of the allocation has been set aside for infrastructure development, including developing and constructing roads and drainage in the city. The total amount earmarked for these development activities is Rs.4.5 crores.

Mandatory provision of Rs.2.13 crores has been allotted to projects drawn up for the welfare of Scheduled Castes.

Schemes for agriculture sector have been allotted Rs.5 lakhs while animal husbandry and fisheries sectors have been given allocated Rs.10 lakhs and Rs.45 lakhs respectively.

A sum of Rs.40 lakhs has been set aside for the industries sector.

Education sector has been allotted Rs.50 lakhs.

The health sector has been allocated Rs.78 lakhs.

Solid waste management has been allotted Rs.75 lakhs, housing Rs.50 lakhs, welfare of children and senior citizens Rs.76 lakhs, cultural affairs Rs.10 lakhs, drinking water supply schemes Rs.35 lakhs and welfare of women Rs.30 lakhs.

A sum of Rs.30 lakhs has been allotted for poverty alleviation. Funds have been provided for Ashraya project, Clean Kerala group for purchasing equipment and Kudumbasree development.
