CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has formulated a Draft Development Plan-2025 for beautification of Rohtak city, 70 km from Delhi, and for meeting the demands of growing population in the area for the next 20 years. An official spokesman said here on Thursday that the population of Rohtak city was 2.95 lakh in 2001, which would increase to around 7 lakh in 2025. He said that there was a need for developing Rohtak, as the city was at the centre of the National Capital Region (NCR). He stated that there was a proposal of developing an education hub over an area of 1,700 acre on the National Highway (NH) number 10. Similarly, an area of 2,500 acre on the NH-71A had also been marked for the development of Industrial Area. He disclosed that a 45-metre broad road from Jawahar Lal Nehru (JLN) canal to Rohtak-Jhajjar road would also be constructed and it would pass through sectors 24 and 25. He said that a Southern Bypass would also be set up from Hanuman Mandir at NH-10 to village Bahu Akbarpur situated on Hisar road connecting to the Bhiwani road. He further said that there was a proposal of developing a commercial hub over an area of 500 acre in sectors 30 and 30 A. He also disclosed that a new dry port would also be developed at Rohtak-Jhajjar Railway Junction near the Asthal Bohar Railway Station. Also, a new grain market would soon come up near Bhiwani road besides developing a new transport area near the sabzi mandi. Giving details of the Draft Plan, he said that nearly 500 feet broad green belt and 200 feet six-lane road would also be built up between JLN canal and Kheri Sadh. He said that it was also proposed to create a sports stadium on 100 acre land in sector 32 and a recreational park in sector 21 B.- PTI
