Contempt proceedings to be now treated as writ petition
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI:
The Madras High Court, which initiated contempt proceedings against the former president of the Madras High Court Advocates Association S. Prabakaran, has "corrected" the title and said it would now be treated as a writ petition.
The First Bench comprising Chief Justice A.P. Shah and Justice D. Murugesan gave appropriate direction to the Registry after observing that it was a mistake committed by the office. The Bench clarified that the actual direction to the Registry was to treat the complaint of advocate G. Rajendran as a writ petition.
The matter relates to a rally taken out by Mr. Prabakaran on the court premises seeking reservation for Backward Community students.
