CHENNAI: The soaring mercury level was not a deterrent for people as they thronged the Ripe Fair 2006 held in Nanganallur on Sunday organised by Ripe Institute Private Limited, a human resource development company. The fair had a slew of programmes for all ages, including painting competitions, fancy dress, rhymes and story telling. Particularly, painting competition attracted large number of students. More than 24 stalls covering education, medical, electronics, computer hardware, insurance, beauty products, arts and a food court were put up at the fair. For college students, competitions were held on bio-data writing, corporate interviews and extempore speech. For working people, competitions were held on ad-libbing, group discussion and one-minute manager. Keeping homemakers in mind, the organisers conducted Rangoli, arts and crafts contests which saw a large number of women participating. For visitors the fair had lucky draws, gift coupons and other prizes to be won. In fact the organisers of the fair were themselves amazed by the massive response from the public.
