CHENNAI: Chennai will soon have a new medical centre to provide "quality and affordable medical aid under one roof." The facility, KC's Medical Centre, at TNHB complex, Luz Church Road, Mylapore, will provide cost-effective health care K. Chockalingam, in whose name the centre has been launched, told presspersons here on Thursday. It will have facilities for ECG, oxygen, round-the-clock lab service to treat patients on an emergency basis and state of the art surgical equipment for all minor and major ailments. Also, trauma care will be provided, Dr. Chockalingam said. To begin with, the centre has entered into a tie-up with Santosh Hospitals in Besant Nagar, which will provide infrastructure for in-patients and Bharat Scans for scanning and pathological tests. "The tie-up has been designed in such a way that the patient benefits out of this arrangement." The facility, which has come up at a cost of Rs.50 lakh, will provide quality care at an affordable price. Transportation for patients and their relatives for investigation and admission at the centre would be arranged. Dr. Chockalingam said that concessions and free treatment would be given to deserving patients. Maheswari Ravi, visiting consultant at the centre, said in a country, which has a large population of poor, health care should be cost-effective and affordable. D. Ganesan, Manager, Health Care Services, Santosh Hospitals, explained the tie-up between the hospital and the medical centre.
