No separate seating for men, women in varsity
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
After all the hue and cry over the proposed segregation of men and women in Bangalore University, the matter apparently turned out to be a non-issue. The University Syndicate on Wednesday chose to maintain status quo on the issue and not implement any such segregation.
University Vice-Chancellor H.A. Ranganath told The Hindu that segregation had only been a suggestion made by a Syndicate member, and it would "remain" a suggestion. No decision was taken on the matter at Wednesday's meeting, he said. He refuted any rift among Syndicate members on the issue as reported in a section of the press on Wednesday. The proceedings went on smoothly, he said. It was reported that a section of the Syndicate members had shot off a dissent note to the university opposing the proposed move.
