This Day That Age
An appeal for wide publicity to the work of the kind the Seva Samajam Home for Boys and Girls in Madras was doing in bringing up destitute children was made by General Cariappa on June 22 while opening two blocks of buildings for the Home, one for use as a dormitory and the other for use as a school. The buildings, raised on a 3.5 acre plot in Saligram village, west of Kodambakkam, donated by the Government, have been constructed each at a cost of Rs.15,000. On arrival Gen. Cariappa was received by Mrs. Parvathy Krishnamurthi, Chairman, and Mrs. Clubwala Jadhav, General Secretary, of the Management Committee of the Home.
