Benefits of technology should reach rural poor: Lakhera

Pondicherry: Lt Governor M.M. Lakhera has called for utilisation of modern technologies to promote the welfare of the masses particularly those living in rural areas. Inaugurating a three-day eighth National Convention of the Prosthodontic Postgraduate Students organised by the Indian Prosthodontic Society in the Mahatma Gandhi PG Institute of Dental Sciences here on Friday, the Lt. Governor said that it was pleasant to hear that there was eight per cent GDP growth. He appealed to the Dental Council of India to extend technical support to the PG Institute of Dental Sciences here. Lakhera also released a souvenir of the convention on the occasion.

Chief Secretary C.S. Khairwal received the first copy of the souvenir. President of the Dental Council of India Dr Anil Kohli said that the Council was trying hard to bring dental education in the country on par with international standard. President of Indian Prosthodontic Society Lt. General Dr Paramjit Singh, the Health Secretary of Pondicherry A. Anbarasu and the Director of the Institute Shyam Singh were among those who spoke.
