Rupee recovers against $

MUMBAI: The rupee on Friday recovered moderately against the U.S. dollar due to reduced dollar demand even though the U.S. currency firmed up against other world currencies.

In lacklustre trading on the interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian unit started on a subdued note at 46.19/20 a dollar and after falling further to a low of 46.2600, recovered smartly to close at 46.12/13, marginally higher than the previous close of 46.13/14.

The RBI fixed the reference rate for the U.S. dollar at Rs. 46.2000. — PTI
