RAJAHMUNDRY: As the last date for campaigning is closing in, three Ministers and MPs of Congress party, former Ministers and senior leaders of Telugu Desam Party are touring the East Godavari district in full swing. The campaigning in rural regions, particularly in Konaseema and agency areas reached its peak on Friday. "Already two days were wasted due to High Court cases and we re-scheduled our tours and candidates are working without sleep", said Minister for Animal Husbandry Gollapalli Suryarao.
Covering remote areas
Despite the incessant rain from Friday morning, Congress and TDP leaders are visiting remote stretches in Kakinada, Samalkot, Peddapuram, Tuni, Jaggampeta, Kadiam, Rajanagaram, Amalapuram, Ramachandrapuram, Mummidivaram and Ravulapalem areas. "We are conducting a minimum of 10 to 15 public meetings in two to three mandals in a day. Despite of my health problem I am campaigning for at least 15 hours," said J. Ramamohana Rao, Minister for Roads and Buildings. Congress party has pressed Union Minister of State for Home M.M. Pallamraju, MPs V. Aruna Kumar, G.V. Harsha Kumar, all PCC members and other leaders into campaigning. About 15 vehicles decorated like chariots were designed and posters, tri-colour banners and flags were dumped in each MPTC, ZPTCs election offices.
TDP campaign
Telugu Desam Party senior leader Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, former Ministers Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, Chikkala Ramachandra Rao, Metla Satyanarayana, Telugu Mahila state president Vanga Geetha, district president Jyothula Nehru and others were touring different parts of the district and TDP is optimistic of winning at least 30 seats out of 58 ZPTCs. However, TDP candidates who expected the postponement of elections due to High Court case are lagging behind in campaigning in most of the mandals.
