EASTBOURNE: Justine Henin-Hardenne maintained her recent dominance over Belgian compatriot Kim Clijsters with a 6-3, 5-7, 6-1 win on Friday to reach the Eastbourne International final.
Henin-Hardenne, who also beat her Fed Cup teammate at the same stage of the French Open earlier this month en route to the title, claimed 10 of the last 11 points and closed out the match with her 10th ace.
Bjorkman advances
At Nottingham, Swede Jonas Bjorkman, the 1998 and 2002 champion, will play Italy's Andreas Seppi in the semifinals. In the quarterfinals Bjorkman defeated Feliciano Lopez of Spain, the 2005 Wimbledon quarterfinalist, 6-3, 6-4. Seppi knocked out British wild card Andrew Murray 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-1.
Safina tops Daniilidou
At Den Bosch (the Netherlands), second-seeded Dinara Safina of Russia beat Greece's Eleni Daniilidou 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 to reach the final of the Ordina Open. At Eastbourne (Hastings Direct International): Semifinals: Justine Henin-Hardenne bt Kim Clijsters 6-3, 5-7, 6-1.
