SONEPAT: The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) will organise a Mahapanchayat on July 2 in Iqbalpur of the State to chalk out future course of action against the State Government's decision to give 2,500 acres of land to Reliance at cheaper rates for setting up a Special Economic Zone (SEZ). Announcing the decision, Gurnam Singh, president of the BKU told reporters here on Friday that the union would not allow the State Government to acquire the land from farmers. ``The union would not allow the State Government to acquire the land from farmers and give it to Reliance Industries Limited (RIL),'' he said. The Mahapanchayat would be held at Iqbalpur village between Gurgaon and Jhajjar.
Allegations
The Haryana Government had earlier decided to give 2500 acres of land to RIL for setting up an SEZ and allegations were raised against the project. Mr. Singh added the union would also organise training camps on August 16 and 17 at Kurukshetra and Hisar respectively for providing training to the farmers about the latest technology for increasing the agriculture production in the State.- PTI
