Bangalore: The Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) will, on Tuesday, present awards to exporters and organisations that facilitate exports. Addressing presspersons here on Friday, S. Babu, FKCCI president, said the awards presentation would be held at Hotel Grand Ashok at 5.30 p.m. The objective of presenting the awards was to encourage exporters. Over 30 exporters and agencies would receive FKCCI awards. A souvenir would be released on the occasion. Union Minister of State for Planning M.V. Rajasekharan, Minister for Major and Medium Industries Katta Subramanya Naidu, Commissioner for Industrial Development Raj Kumar Khatri and Managing Director of State Bank of Mysore Y. Vijayanand would participate in the function, Mr. Babu said. He said the FKCCI would present the awards every year. "From next year, an award would be presented to an exporter from a backward district in the State. We aim at making Karnataka the leading exporter in the country," he said. Mr. Babu said the FKCCI had launched the EXIM Club, a cell for the promotion of international trade, which would provide information about exports from various parts of the State. J.R. Bangera, chairman of the International Business Development Committee, FKCCI, said the federation had received 110 applications for the awards.
