Charas seized, three arrested

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Three alleged drug peddlers have been arrested by the Delhi unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) near Tughlaqabad-Surajkund Road in South Delhi. The NCB claims to have recovered 246 kg of charas of Nepali origin from them.

Acting on a tip-off that some drug peddlers would pass by Tughlaqabad-Surajkund Road in a black Scorpio jeep, the NCB sleuths laid a trap and intercepted the vehicle on Thursday. The occupants were taken into custody and the vehicle checked. The raiding team allegedly recovered the charas consignment from the Scorpio, following which the accused were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

During interrogation, they identified themselves as Ashok Jaiswal, a resident of Bettia in Bihar, Ajay Pratap Singh, the Scorpio owner, and his driver, Triloki Singh. Ajay Pratap and Triloki allegedly disclosed that they were from Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh.

The accused purportedly revealed that they had procured the consignment at Bettia near Indo-Nepal border.
