NEW DELHI: Welcoming Delhi University's move to enter into a contract with 24 hospitals for direct payment facility in case of hospitalisation which has been made available to all teaching and non-teaching staff as well as research students, the Delhi University Teachers' Association has demanded that this facility be extended to all major hospitals in the National Capital Region. The facility is extended to employees only for in-patient hospitalisation. In case of out-patient treatment, the University employee can get treated on the agreed cash basis and it would not fall under the direct payment system. For in-patient treatment, the liability of the University is limited to the rates fixed by the Central Government Health Scheme for treatment. To avail of these facilities, the employee is required to produce a valid identity card with photographs of the beneficiary issued the University or the Principal of the College. In case eligible accommodation is not available at the time of hospital admission, the patient will be entitled to a lower category of accommodation.
