Krishna Bhat Memorial Award presented

It has been conferred on linguist Sangamesh Savadattimath

SHIMOGA: Linguist Sangamesh Savadattimath was conferred the Sediyapu Krishna Bhat Memorial Award here in recognition of his contribution to the field of research at a function here on Friday.

The function was organised by Karnataka Sangh, Shimoga; Rashtrakavi Govind Pai Research Centre, Udupi; Academy of General Education, Manipal, and Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College, Udupi.

President of the Sediyapu Award Committee Erya Lakshminayarana Alwa presented the award.

He said that the Sediyapu's literature was of immense significance at a time when egoistic clashes were on the rise.

He said that his literature was relevant in the present context.

He said that the younger generation had the tendency to claim that they had understood everything.

"But no study is sustainable unless it is made with the firm foundation," he said and added that Sediyapu's literature was replete with the in depth study and research.

Mr. Savadattimath said that he had attached importance to awards as they were valuable although they underwent the critical analysis.

President of the Karnataka Sangh Vijaya Sridhar presided over the function.

Former president of the Karnataka Sangh K.G. Subramanya released "Sediyapu Chandassamputa."

H. Chandrasekhar Kedilaya presented "Kavya Gayana" of Sediyapu.

Vice-president of the sangh Niranjan Kori welcomed the gathering.

Joint Secretary Vishalakshi proposed a vote of thanks.
