KOZHIKODE: The All Kerala Parents Association of Hearing Impaired will conduct a seminar on `Hearing impaired and higher education' here on Sunday. The seminar is being held to highlight the denial of higher education facilities to the hearing impaired. Association secretary P. Narayanan said as many as 180 hearing impaired students had passed the SSLC examination this year from the 12 special schools in Malabar. Apart from them, there are others who had passed the examination through the `integrated education for disabled' from regular schools. All these students depended on the 60 seats for higher education available at Rehmania School for the Handicapped and Calicut School for Handicapped at Kolathara. The association highlighted the highly inadequate facilities for higher education for the hearing impaired in Malabar.
