CHENNAI: Tanker Foundation (Tamil Nadu Kidney Research Foundation) has come up with another idea to raise the level of awareness of kidney diseases among the public. The foundation will hold a performance of memorable songs whose lyrics were penned by Kannadasan on the evening of July 9 at Vani Mahal. A troupe of 15 artists will perform 10 numbers under the title `Konjum Salangai', as a tribute to the poet. The artists, students of Radhika Shurajit, will regale the audience by enacting songs written by the lyricist. Tanker holds awareness programmes in over 40 schools and 25 colleges in and around Chennai and rural and semi-urban areas in other parts of Tamil Nadu. Donor passes to the performance are priced at Rs.100, Rs.200 and Rs.500 and will be available at Tanker Foundation, Landmark, Connexion in Anna Nagar, and Focus Gallery in Alwarpet. Contact project coordinator Stella Matthew at 9841351951 for tickets. Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha is the venue partner, said Rajalakshmi Ravi, advisory member of the foundation. The proceeds will help raise corpus funds for the `Awareness and prevention of kidney disease project'. The Tanker Foundation provides financial aid for renal transplantation, medication and investigation costs of patients with kidney failure.
