Bangalore: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vice-president M. Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday said he was glad that the Janata Dal (Secular) had decided to take their complaint about some BJP legislators attending a dinner hosted by Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE) Managing Director Ashok Kheny before the Coordination Committee instead of going to the media. Speaking to presspersons at the venue of the party's Scheduled Caste Morcha convention here, Mr. Naidu maintained that attending the dinner was not a lapse on the part of the MLAs, as they had the right to go anywhere.
No change in stand
He said there was no change in the party's stand that NICE should return excess land acquired for the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor project to the Government, which should hand it over to farmers from whom it was acquired.
Party inquiry
BJP State unit president D.V. Sadananda Gowda said the party had ordered an inquiry into what prompted the MLAs to attend the dinner and whether Mr. Kheny had influenced them in his favour. Health and Family Welfare Minister R. Ashok condemned the United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre for what he termed politicising development activities. Since he was the Minister in charge of Bangalore Urban district, he should have been invited to the functions attended by the Prime Minister here on Saturday. But protocol had been ignored and proper seating arrangements were not made, he added.
