THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: President of the Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) K. Muraleedharan has said his party does not see any reason to merge with the Congress. "We have had district general body meetings in all 14 districts. The unanimous view is for retaining the party identity. The situation now is no different from that when we formed the party," he said on Saturday. Mr. Muraleedharan said the DICwould go ahead with programmes to strengthen its base in the State. It would hold district-level conventions from July 10 to 18 and followed by a leadership camp at Charalkunnu in Pathanamthitta district on August 5 and 6, he said. He dismissed lightly reports about party workers returning to the Congress in some parts of the State after the election debacle.
