NCC sailing expedition

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The No. 1 (Kerala) Naval NCC unit, Thiruvananthapuram, will organise a sailing expedition for senior division cadets in the backwaters from Kollam to Aroor and back from June 27 to July 6.

The expedition team comprising 30 cadets, two associate NCC officers and four naval personnel will be headed by Commander N. Shreekumar, Commanding Officer of the unit.

The team will cover a distance of 410 km from Kollam to Aroor via Ashtamudi, Kayamkulam, Punnamada and Vembanadu and back to Kollam via Kumarakam by rowing/sailing on whaler boats.

It is also expected to instil a sense of courage, individuality, sportsman spirit and camaraderie amongst them.

Col. Jacob Dominic, Group Commander, Thiruvananthapuram NCC group, will formally flag-off the expedition from No.3 (Kerala) Naval NCC jetty, Thevallay (Kollam), at 9 a.m. on June 27.
