HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has directed officials to complete land acquisition for house-sites under the Indiramma programme in a week and ground the first phase houses by July-end. Reviewing the progress of various schemes with senior officials on Friday, he told them to ensure foolproof measures for its successful implementation. Seeking to know whether old age and other pensions were reaching beneficiaries on time, he asked about the procedure being adopted to ensure the amount reached the right beneficiary. He asked officials not to give room for complaint.
Pensions sanctioned
Officials informed the Chief Minister that 898,891 pensions were sanctioned and 885,478 had been disbursed. Of the total 18.77 lakh houses (16.32 lakh rural and 2.45 lakh urban), 11.41 lakh houses, including 11.07 (68 per cent) in rural areas and 34,742 (14 per cent) in urban areas were in the process of being grounded. It was proposed to seek HUDCO loans for constructing individual sanitary latrines.
Primary education
On primary education, officials said 11,083 additional classrooms were being constructed. A Rs. 224-crore proposal to build 10,890 anganwadi centres had been given to NABARD. Dr. Reddy appreciated officials for `high' response to the Rural Employment Guarantee Programme in Anantapur ( 94,000) and Adilabad (90,872) districts. In all, 39,54,522 job cards were issued. He noted the transparent and foolproof mechanism adopted in payment of wages to beneficiaries through specially developed software.
