HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has urged the State Election Commission to order the transfer of Kadapa Superintendent of Police Nagireddy, and Additional SP Laxmi Reddy to ensure free and fair poll for ZPTC and MPTC seats in the district. In a memorandum submitted to the commission on Saturday, the TDP also demanded transfer of Rajampet DSP Balakrishna Reddy and Porumamilla Inspector K.M. Rajendra, as they were allegedly behaving in a partisan manner. So far, 6 ZPTCs and 116 MPTCs had gone in favour of the Congress in Kadapa district and there was large perpetration of violence and kidnappings. TDP leaders -- K. Vijayarama Rao and C. Ramachandraiah -- who submitted the memorandum cited several instances where the police were allegedly forcing TDP candidates and other parties to withdraw from the contest in the name of peaceful conduct of elections.
`No action taken'
The conduct of the police in several instances of threats and kidnappings of candidates was making it clear that they were in the know of things. Though the matter was brought to the notice of the SEC earlier, no action had been initiated as yet, they lamented.
