MYSORE: Burglars struck the heart of the city on Friday night and targeted 14 offices including those of 11 advocates. The serial burglary, reckoned to be the most daring in recent times, took place at the Lansdowne Building. All the offices are located on the first floor. Though the loss reported was negligible, the incident has sent shock waves through the city as serial robberies and burglaries are a rarity. The lawyers whose offices were ransacked did not report much damage; Rs. 4,000 belonging to advocate Basavaraju was stolen and a telephone instrument. A computer in the adjacent office was not touched though the offices of all the lawyers were ransacked. Advocates whose offices were targeted were: Puttaswamy, M.K.Thimmaiah, S.V.Sangameshwar, Lakshminarayana, M.K. Thimmaiah, Mallikarjuna, Pratish and three others. The office of the Congress Backward Classes and Minorities Cell and the offices of the DSS and a real estate consultant were targeted. A section of the advocates attributed the serial burglary to lack of adequate lighting in the area. Senior police officers, finger print experts and a dog squad visited the crime scene. The Devaraja Police are investigating.
