MYSORE: The 75th birthday celebrations of Sri Vishveshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math was held here on Friday amidst gaiety and rituals. The event including the thulabhara of the seer was witnessed by a large number of devotees who gathered at the Avadhoota Dutta Peetha and was conducted by Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji, Suttur Seer Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji and Srimadabhinava Vageesha Swamiji of Parakala Math. The Pejawar seer spoke on the imperatives of nurturing "Santana Dharma" and the significance of religious values in modern times. He said the nation could progress if religious establishments and heads of maths joined hands in taking up socially relevant activities. The seer said he derived inspiration from the work of Madhwacharya, Adi Shankaracharya and saint Basavanna's preaching on an egalitarian society. Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji remarked that the nation was going through a turbulent phase while the Suttur Seer Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji spoke about the achievements and contributions of the Pejawar seer. The felicitation programme took place in the background of devotional hymns and classical music and bhajans rendered by Kavitha Subramanyam. Artistes presented a dance-drama feature on Lord Srinivasa and Padmavathi.
