Delhi's tryst with spirituality

NEW DELHI: For those interested in study and pursuit of spiritual values, Ramana Kendra, in association with Ramana Maharishi Centre of Learning, Bangalore, is celebrating the 125th Jayanti of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharishi with a two-day function in Delhi beginning October 29.

Aimed at highlighting Sri Ramana's life and teaching, the inaugural function will be held at the Kendra's premises on Lodhi Road. Along with a seminar, discussions on Sri Ramana's core teachings will be organised. Cultural programmes have also been planned for the evenings at Chinmaya Centre of World Understanding auditorium on Lodhi Road. Two leading cultural groups from Chennai and Bangalore will perform.

Set up in 1963, the Ramana Kendra in Delhi is a non-profit non-sectarian organisation that provides an opportunity to people, regardless of gender, race or religion, to study, practise and disseminate the philosophy of existence as propounded by Sri Ramana.

Sri Ramana preached the simple process of self-enquiry by directing attention within oneself and asking the question, "Who am I?'' According to Sri Ramana, the process of introspection would slowly but steadily lead one to the source of one's being, namely the universally experienced state of "I am'', which in effect is the substratum of all other perceived experiences, encompassing the observer, the observed and the process of perceiving.
