NIZAMABAD: District Collector I.S. Sri Naresh has said that as per the Election Commission rules, the administration will take action against 200 Government employees who were absent to the training classes held on the conduct of polling and counting. Giving details here on Saturday, he said that for the conduct of elections to 36 ZPTCs and 528 MPTCs in the district 1,726 presiding officers and as many assistant presiding officers were appointed. In the first round of training conducted on June 22, some 200 employees were found to be absent.
Directive to staff
He asked all the employees who were entrusted with the election duty to be present at their respective polling stations on July 1 by 7 a.m. If they failed to make it to the stations, action would be taken against them, he added. Mr. Naresh said 1,565 polling stations would be set up to enable over 12 lakh voters to cast their votes. Out of 36 ZPTCs, one was unanimously elected and out of 528 MPTCs nine were declared unanimous. The polling to Anksapur MPTC was countermanded following the auction of the seat, he said.
